Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all who visit The White Hart. We are committed to assist guests with physical or mobility problems ensuring everything is done in our power for guests to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
The White Hart has 11 en suite bedrooms 6 of which are ground floor. Two double rooms are adjoined single rooms giving them family room options and one double room is wheelchair/ disabled accessible and is provided with grab-rails for wash-basin, toilet and shower in the en suite .The accommodation block stands alone from the main building.
The main restaurant is 500 years old and while we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some period features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. The restaurant has 4 different levels meaning there are 4 single steps in areas of the restaurant. Staffs are always at hand to assist you should you require assistance.

Pre-Arrival

• we are located on the A1017 in the quiet village of Great Yeldham.
• The nearest village shop and post office is a 5 minute walk, the town of Halstead is a 5 minute drive.
• The well known designer village with cinema, swimming pool and shopping centre is a 15 minute drive.
• The nearest bus stop is a 5 minute walk and the nearest main line train station is Free-Port Braintree a 15 minute drive.
• There are a list of recommended taxi companies in your room brochure or available at reception.
• Brochures and menus can be available in large print if required.
• We regret we do not have facilities to prepare documents in Braille.

• We have a green policy and ask our guest to assist us when possible to help us preserve our environment.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• There is a large well lit off road car park with areas of both tarmac and gavel.
• The car park has a kerb of 10cm around the entrance of the main building where reception and the restaurant is located.
• We would be happy to assist any guest from parking/car Park to entrance to room.
• Normal arrival times are from 2.30pm-10pm (other times can be arranged).Please advise estimated time of arrival.

Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area

• The main entrance is located central to the main building.
• There is one step down 16cm located in the entrance lobby as you enter the main building.
• Tall guests beware. The second entrance door height in the entrance lobby is 172cm. Most low areas in the main building are padded though not all.
• The reception desk is located on the left hand side of the reception bar and is 120cm high.

Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

• There are 3 accommodation block entrances with Yale key lock. Door widths are 85cm.
• Block 1 has a 3cm threshold, block 2 has a 16cm step and block 3 has a 10cm step in their entrance door.
• On the left hand side in the block entrance is a push light switch which is on a timer.
• The block entrances are spacious with carpet floor finishing.
• There are two flights of stairs in each entrance lobby with step heights of 18cm.These lead to rooms located on the first floor. Stairs are carpeted.
• Room doors are Yale key locked.
• The only phones available are in the guest’s rooms or in reception in the main block.
• Fire call point is on the left hand side when exiting lobby. Fire extinguishers are on the left hand side.

Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

• In the main block we have a public lounge/bar where guests are welcome to relax or socialise.
• There is 1 step down 16cm and a low second entrance door 172cm.
• The lounge floor is a brick floor finish.
• There are public toilets in the lounge area. The ladies are on the same level and the gents have a 14cm step up.
• The lounge has a selection soft and firm seating.
• Lighting is good with wall lights.
• Daily news papers and magazines are available.

Public WCs

• The ladies public toilet available in lounge/restaurant area is on the same level. Toilet height is 40cm. The hand basin height is 80cm.
• The ladies toilet floor is laid to carpet.
• The Gentlemen’s toilet is available in lounge/restaurant area with one 14cm step up. The toilet height is 40cm. The hand basin height is 80cm.
• The gent’s toilet floor is laid to quarry tile.
• Due to planning restraints and period features we do not have a public disabled toilet or baby changing unit.

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area, Take Away & Cafe

• The restaurant is located in the main building either side of reception.
• The bar restaurant is on one level and the main restaurant has 2 steps 14cm and 12cm.
• The bar restaurant has a brick floor with wall lighting set low.
• The main restaurant has a polished solid oak floor chandelier lighting set low.
• All seating is genuine antique with various styles of chairs with or without arms.
• Isles are spacious with a variety of original antique tables.
• The majority of tables are not table clothed due to their natural beauty.
• Menus are typed in a clear font at 16mm and large print can be made available on request.
• All dietary requirements can be catered for on request.
• The restaurant is laid with finest Dudson china, Guy Degrenne cutlery and fine glassware. Thick handled cutlery is available.
• Al fresco dining is available on a flag stone outside seating area. Picnics are also allowed in the grounds.

Laundry

• Laundry facilities are not available on the premises but there is a launderette 5 minute drive in Sible Hedingham.
• Ems laundry service is also available 01787 236000.

Shop

• The nearest shop is Londis which is a 5 minute walk.
• The nearest post office is a 5 minute walk.
• The well known Free Port designer village and Braintree Town is a 15 minute drive or 25 minute bus journey.
• Further information is available at reception.

Treatment room/s

• Treatment facilities are not available on site but there are most beauty treatments available at Studio 1017 just a 5 minute walk from The White Hart. 01787 237716.

Leisure Facilities

• Free Port Braintree offers the nearest swimming pool and leisure facilities a 15 minute drive.

Outdoor Facilities

• There is a mapped out country walk around the nearby countryside.
• There is a local park 5 minute walk.

Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting

• The White Hart has an intimate conference room The Garden Room for up to 30 delegates located in the main building.
• The White Hart Barn can host conferences, meetings and banqueting for up to 200 delegates.
• The White Hart Barn has disabled facilities.
• Delegates can use the large main off road car park

Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

• There is central heating throughout the 11 room accommodation block. Each bedroom has thermostatic control valves on each radiator. Each room has a hospitality tray with a Tea variety, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Every room has a hair dryer, flat screen free view TV, internet connection, wardrobe, dressing table, desk lamp, bed side cabinet, bedside lamp, upholstered chair, luggage rack. Average bed height is 65cm. All bedrooms are laid to carpet and en suites to altro non slip flooring. All rooms have down lighting and en suites have low energy lighting with shaver points.
• All first floor rooms are accessed from ground level by means of 2 flights of stairs. Each flight consists of 7 steps on the first flight and 6 steps on the second flight with a spacious mid landing. The step heights measuring 18cm and the staircase widths are 82cm .
• Block 1
• Room 1 is on the first floor. Double bedroom is 4m by 3.8m and the en suite 2.4m by 1.8. It has a 4 poster bed and is the venues bridal suit.
• Room 2 is ground floor, Double bedroom is 3.8m by 3m and the en suite 2.5m by 2.4 fitted out to disabled regulations

• Room 3 is ground floor, Twin/double bedroom is 4.3 by 4m and en suite 1m by 3m
• Room 4 is ground floor, Single bedroom is 4.3 m by 2.4m and en suite 1m by 3m
• Room 5 is first floor, Double room is 4.3m by 4m and en suite is 1m by 2.5m
• Room 6 is first floor, single room is 4.3 by 2.4 m and en suite is 1m by 2.5m
• Block 3
• Room 7 is ground floor, double room is 4.3m by 3.5m and en suite is 1m by 3m
• Room 8 is ground floor, twin/double room is 4.3m by 3.6m and en suite is 1m by 3m
• Room 9 is first floor, double room is 4.2m by 3.5m and en suite is 1m by 2.5m
• Room 10 is first floor, double room is 4.3m by 3.6m and en suite is 1m by 2.5m
• Room 11 is in its own block ground floor single room, 2.9m by 2.7m en suite is 2.8m by 1m

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [En suite or Shared]

• All rooms have their own en suite facilities including shower, toilet, hand basin, mirror, shaver point and heated towel rail.
• Room 2 is laid out to disability regulation with large shower and wall hand rails.
• All ground floor showers have a step up of 25cm and all up stair showers have step up of 12cm.
• All sink heights are 80cm.
• Room 2 toilet height is 48cm and all other toilet heights are 40cm.
• All rooms floors are laid to altro non slip safety flooring.
• All room are well lit and well ventilated.

• The White Hart has its own 4.5 acres of landscaped gardens laid to lawn.

• Most forgotten items e.g. toothbrush, needle & cotton etc can be purchased from reception.
